While some of us may be equipped with a full-blown quiver of steeds in our garage, its bit more common to opt for one fully versatile bike, and we see no better way to treat yourself, and your ride, than by upgrading it with hoops that match its do-it-all demeanor. ENVE's M-series wheels meet the marks for versatility and have been revamped to supercharge your bike with lightweight stiffness, and durability. The M630 27. 5in Wheelset uses ENVE's mastery of carbon fiber construction for unwavering performance on the trail. This wheelset is poised for all day rides that carry you beyond the last cell tower, weaving up steep switchbacks to urn untamed miles of descents, laced with drops, tight trees, and root lattices. The internal width sits at 30mm and is ideal for 27. 5-inch tires ranging from 2. 3 through 2. 5-inches. The most exciting feature on the rims is a wider hookless bead that gives a better buffer against the trail, thus improving durability and reducing the likelihood of a pinch flat so you can run lower pressure for better traction and rolling resistance. Trail tires have certainly gotten wider and rims have grown too in an effort to add better sidewall support. For trail use, our personal experience has been very favorable with 30mm internal widths, so we are glad to see that on the M630. What is remarkable is ENVE managed to shed some 40 grams of rim weight versus the M60HV while increasing the internal width from 26 to 30mm. We aren't exactly sure how ENVE managed to achieve this but the ride is simply amazing. The redesigned, wider hookless bead provides more material on a vulnerable portion of the rim and the edge isn't as sharp as the outgoing M-Series line so tire pinch flats are virtually eliminated. The increased traction and ride comfort from running higher volume tires is something that we doubt we could ever stray from, and the M630 lets us wring out every drop of performance from these wider tires.
