If you live to clobber talus fields, steep trails, and tricky descents, yet still desire a shoe that's agile and cushioned, look no further than the Altra Women's Timp Trail Running Shoe. Falling between Altra's Lone Peak and Olympus (in terms of cushion and tread), the Timp is a do-everything, go-anywhere king of trail running shoe. In keeping with Altra's original design, the Timp has a 0mm drop, neutral platform, and wide last, which allows your foot to splay and encourages a natural, comfortable stride. However, to differentiate itself from the Lone Peak and Olympus, the Timp is endowed with a few distinguishable details. To start, the Timp features a smoother mesh for light, breathable comfort, as well as TPU overlays and a reinforced toe and heel cap for added protection and torsional structure. Meanwhile, the dual-density midsole (which is 4mm more than the Lone Peak and 7mm shorter than the Olympus) is equipped with a traditional EVA foam and A-Bound component. In turn, this foam combination provides unencumbered energy return, shock attenuation, and comfort underfoot. The GaiterTrap TM tech now features a four-point attachment system to maintain a secure fit, and the rugged TrailClaw and DuraTread outsole chews up and spits out varied terrain like the boss that it is.
