Season Openers
ShredBC, November 18th
The snow is dumping all over B.C., we have seen some of the earliest and best opening days in recent memory and it’s all just getting started.

Mount Baker was open on Thursday Nov 12th and Cypress, Grouse and Whistler opened on Friday the 13th. I am not sure how the local vancouver mountain conditions were, but I know that Baker saw bottomless powder on opening day and Whistler also had some nice powdery conditions. Seymour will be opening up this weekend, and although it has been raining on the local Vancouver mountains in the last couple of days, the snow line was pretty low this morning so I say it's a pow opener.

Opening Day at Mount Baker, November 12th, 2009

Sunshine Village and Lake Louise opened up in the first week in November, but if you have ever been out there for opening day before you will know there tends to be a lot of man made snow and a lot of rocks. Nakiska opened this weekend with the same sort of conditions as other mountains in the area. A bit to the north in Jasper, Marmot Basin also opened up this weekend, firing up their new high-speed quad for its first riders.

All the mountains in the Canadian Rockies have seen quite a bit of early season snow this year, so they should be looking pretty good after a couple more dumps.

The B.C. interior also saw a couple of mountains open this weekend with Sun Peaks and Big White opening up with limited access. Both these mountains are also showing decent snowpack for this time of year, and should be set for the season after a couple more dumps of snow.
